6 Reasons Why Michigan’s Adventure is Perfect for Young Families

One of the most exciting things about our children getting older is the opportunity to take on new adventures and travel more often. I absolutely love seeing their reactions to new experiences, seeing the wonder in their eyes and excitement that they feel. It’s honestly, one of my most favorite things about parenting and makes my heart soar watching them grow and learn from new experiences. A child’s joy and laughter is so contagious and being able to be involved in that daily is so amazing.

This past weekend was packed with so much joy, laughter and wonder as we traveled to Michigan’s Adventure in Muskegon, Michigan with our family! We all had such an amazing time checking out everything that they have to offer for families. We had traveled there last year as well, but Brielle was a tiny baby so we weren’t able to experience as much but she was able to dip her feet into so much more fun this year. Michigan’s Adventure is an amusement and waterpark all-in-one! They have over 60 rides and attractions for every level of thrill seekers in your family.

This year was such a blast because both kids were able to go on rides and experience the waterpark and splash pads. Both of my kiddos (aged 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old) are fearless so they were jumping at the chance to experience rides and splash like crazies. Aiden even rode a rollercoaster (he’s only 3 1/2)!

Below are six reasons why Michigan’s Adventure is perfect for young families:

1. Rides for Everyone

There are rides for all sizes and thrill levels! Brielle was able to ride along with us on low-key rides, like the Kiddie Cars and Be Bop Boulecard, while Aiden could explore some of the more thrilling rides such as the Logger’s Run or Big Dipper. For older kids, there are some much more daring and exhilarating rides and I can’t wait to take the kids on them in the future. There are also a ton of family rides which are perfect when you have multiple kids with you.

2. Waterpark Perfection

While we love the rides, WildWater Adventure waterpark is where we spend the majority of our day! In June they opened Half Pint Paradise, which is perfect for young children. Half Pint Paradise consists of a padded splash pad with many interactive features and seven new kiddie slides. We stayed there for many hours as the kids ride the slides over and over and splashed like crazy. It’s located right next to The Beach Party, a massive structure with spray guns, waterslides, net bridges and a huge drenching bucket, which is so convenient for allowing kids to hop back and forth. There are a TON of waterslides for older kids, wave pools, lazy rivers…truly something for everyone!

This suit from Beach House Swim is great for busy, active moms! I love how it’s flattering but still gives some coverage!

3. Short Lines

Short lines seriously make this amusement park a winner in my book! With two small (and inpatient) kids, being able to hop in line and be on a ride minutes later is absolutely wonderful. We’ve never waited more than 15 minutes for a ride and most of the time it’s 5 minutes or less (or even able to walk right on).

4. Perfect Size

Michigan’s Adventure is large enough to keep you entertained for a day (or even two if you wanted to spend a day each at the amusement park and waterpark), but not so large that it’s overwhelming. You can spend the morning and early afternoon checking out the amusement park, walk out to your car for a quick picnic lunch (save $$ and pack a lunch) and then finish the day at the waterpark.

5. Funland Farm

Funland Farm is always a great time. Check out some furry, friendly animals with the kiddos, snap some cute photos and feed them some yummies. Kids love being up close and personal with the fun variety of farm animals (including llamas, alpacas, rabbits, goats, a mini horse and a miniature donkey). It’s free with your admission!

6. Affordable

For two parks in one, Michigan’s Adventure is a bargain! It’s only $34 for those over 48″, $29 for 3 years of age and under 48″ and free admission for 2 and under. Such an affordable option for families that won’t break the bank.

If you’re looking for a fun weekend getaway or even just a day trip, definitely keep Michigan’s Adventure and WildWater Adventure on your radar! Make a long weekend of it and check out the rest of Muskegon and neighboring Grand Haven. It’s truly a beautiful area with so much to offer!

How old were your children the first time they went to an Amusement Park? Michiganders, have you been to Michigan’s Adventure?
