Although we’ve lived back in the Metro Detroit area for a couple of years, those years have been full of pregnancies, babies, new jobs and home renovations so we’ve had few opportunities to check out all the changes and improvements that have been made in the area. Now that our kids are getting a bit older and life has calmed down, we are so excited to check out all the positive changes and new businesses that are starting to populate the metro Detroit area. When MotorCity Casino Hotel reached out to invite my husband and I out to a night of entertainment, food and fun, we couldn’t wait to check out everything! It was perfect timing as it was my birthday week so it was a great way to celebrate turning the big 3-5!

MotorCity Casino Hotel is one of Detroit’s most innovative and beautiful entertainment venues. Whether you’re looking for posh accommodations, amazing food, live performances, casino gaming or a spa day, MotorCity Casino has something for everyone.

When we first arrived for blogger night, I was dazzled by how beautiful the restaurant Iridescence was! From gorgeous lighting, to glimmering tabletops, tiered seating, open view into the kitchen and the breathtaking 16th story skyline view of Downtown Detroit, Iridescence was beautiful. Iridescence is the only AAA 4 Diamond dining in the Detroit area and their modern American cuisine was delicious and the wine list was impressive. We started the evening in their wine room with warm mulled cider, charcuterie board and caviar (first for me!). It was great to chat with some of the other bloggers that were also invited to the event.

We were lucky enough to try out the newest fall menu at Iridescence and I only have great things to stay. Our meal for the night included:

  • Broiled Oysters – The best I’ve had in the metro Detroit area.
  • Iridescence Greek Salad – The whipped greek feta was to die for and the shaved beets were delish.
  • Lobster Claw with Saffron Cavatelli – I’d eat this every day if I could! Lobster in every bite.
  • Prime Filet – Such a tender steak.
  • Melting Chocolate Sphere – So fun to watch as the caramel is poured and it unfolds.
  • Michigan Cherry Cheesecake – Rich and smooth and the cherries were so flavorful.

Needless to say, we were stuffed! Chelsea, our server, was fabulous and she easily answered any and all questions and also took note of my allergy to make sure that it wouldn’t be an issue.

After dinner we made our way to Sound Board to laugh and watch Andy Cohen (Real Housewives) perform alongside Mojo in the Morning (CK 105.5). He was so funny and it was really interesting to hear about his background. To be honest, I had no idea that MotorCity Casino had so many concerts and performances at the Sound Board! The Sound Board is an intimate setting with 1500 seats for an intense and unclose experience no matter where you sit. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye open for upcoming concerts (especially since seat prices are super reasonable too!). You can check out their schedule here.

We closed the night testing our luck with a little gambling and fun at the slot machines!

I definitely recommend checking out MotorCity Casino Hotel and all they have to offer. It’s a perfect night out that takes you beyond the ordinary dinner & movies without having to travel a far distance. We had such a fun night out and can’t wait to come back soon (definitely checking out the huge D. Tour Spa the next time).
