From One Mom to Another: You’re Amazing + “Love Your Mama” Giveaway

With Mother’s Day around the corner, I wanted to speak about something that has been on my mind and heart. Social media is a tricky thing, especially among the blogging world. I read and see so many comments from moms (bloggers and non bloggers) about how based on seeing everyone’s photos and post, that their lives are perfect and that they’ve got this “mom thing” down. How some feel that based on the constant barrage of perfection that they see on media outlets that they feel as though they aren’t enough.

That they should…

…be better.

…be skinnier.

…be happier.

…do more (whether that’s with their kids, their home or exercise).

…and do it faster.

I think that often, especially mothers, we don’t give ourselves enough credit. You are enough. It’s hard when you often only see what is perceived as perfection around you. Televisions often only portrays the “perfect mom” and social media can be deceiving as most people only post their best moments, instead of the moments that they are struggling or when their house is far from perfect. While you may see one perfectly curated square on their Instagram feed, what you don’t see is the pile of dishes, baskets of unfolded laundry and a screaming toddler in the background.

Remember, you are amazing even on those days when you don’t feel amazing. Those days…

That you raise your voice a few times more than you like.

When your pateince runs thin. When you feel like you are fighting one battle after another.

When you feel like hiding away so you can have one moment where no one needs you or is touching you.

When you haven’t slept more than 3 hours straight in months.

When it’s been days since you’ve showered because you have a baby attached to you 24/7.

When you feed your toddler PB&J for the third day in a row because they hate everything else.

When you feel like waving the white flag of defeat.

On those days you’re especially amazing.

I think many moms can relate to these feelings. One of the hardest things about motherhood is that you are always putting yourself last. Your day is never really yours, but revolving around the needs and desires of someone else. That’s a shocking reality that can be so hard to adjust to and can feel exhausting at times. In full disclosure, this is one of the things that I have struggled with the most as a parent.

Raising children isn’t for the weak. It’s a journey that can be incredibly difficult yet immensely satisfying and amazing in so many ways. Some days will be so hard that you’ll collapse into bed with physical and mental exhaustion, some days will be filled with so much love and laughter that you’ll feel like your heart is going to explode, and many days are somewhere in between those two spectrums. Throughout it all, give yourself grace and love thyself.

Remember mamas, you’re amazing, especially on those days when you are struggling the most.

Great giveaway! And I completely agree with your sentiment. I’ve learned that you can’t trust everything you see on social media. I know I only post the good stuff!! Today Parker ate a chocolate donut for lunch because I couldn’t deal anymore. Lol

Amen! This is also why I try to share real life on social media too. If one other mom thinks “oh my goodness, yes!!” then I have done my duty!

Yes! The struggle is real. Hard to balance it all and have time for yourself and not have mom guilt.
