One of the things that drives me absolutely batty is struggling to fall asleep. It’s a ruthless cycle as you lay there tossing and turning as you watch the minutes tick by and continue to get more and more frustrated as the evening lingers on. It’s on of those things that happens to us all every now and then. Whether we’re stressed, over tired, too amped up or a multitude of other reasons, sleep evades us all from time to time.

I’ve spent a lot of time the last few months making sleep a priority for me. I can notice a huge different when I stick to a sleep routine in the amount of time that it takes me to fall asleep. One of my favorite get-to-sleep-quick & relaxation tips is aromatherapy.

While I don’t think aromatherapy is an end-all, be-all solution for sleep troubles, aromatherapy can be a great tool for signaling to your body that it’s time to settle into sleep for the night. In particular, some essential oils have been found to be especially calming and soothing.

Essential oils for sleep:

  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
  • Bergamot Essential Oil
  • Chamomile Essential Oil
  • Cedarwood Essential Oil
  • Sandalwood Essential Oil
  • Vetiver Essential Oil
  • Frankencense Essential Oil

I keep these essential oils on hand to whip up diffuser blends and room and pillow spray recipes. NOW Food oils are my favorite as they’re high quality and rigorously tested, plus you absolutely cannot beat the value. NOW Foods has a full facility in-house laboratory to ensure all of their products (you can learn more about my facility tour here), oils included, surpass industry standards so you truly have the highest quality oils. They’re able to offer extremely low prices on their pure essential oils because they purchase their oils in large quantities that qualify for bulk discounts and because they sell directly to retailers and on their own website, they can pass on those savings to their customers. Major win for those of us who love using essential oils!

You can also use code: AMBER for 20% off at nowfoods.com, which is where I purchase all my oils.

These room and pillow sprays are so perfect for using right before bed! I love that they are made with all natural ingredients, are easy to make and literally cost so little to make. Many of the sleep sprays available to purchase are loaded with preservatives and less than stellar ingredients so I sleep easier (see what I did there? ha!) knowing that these are made with quality and safe ingredients.

A couple sprays of these sleep sprays at bedtime is a great way to signal to your body that it’s time to sleep. Incorporating routines and traditions for bedtime (see lots of ideas for bedtime routines here) is a great habit to get into and can lead to less time laying in bed awake and more time catching quality zzz’s.
