These almond coffee protein bars are overflowing with healthy fats, loaded with protein, the perfect amount of sweetness and a boost of caffeine. They’re easy to make and a great midday snack to power you through the afternoon slump!

With all this extra time at home, I’ve been trying to use it for improving some of my daily habits. Staying healthy is more important than ever right now and small everyday changes can make a large difference in your overall wellness. A few of the areas in which I’ve been trying to maintain and improve are incorporating daily movement, fueling my body with high quality foods (high protein, low carb works best for me), quality sleep and making sure to stay ultra-hydrated.

The area in which I often struggle the most is eating a healthy and balanced diet. Eating healthy, while balancing working from home with two kids 24/7 can be overwhelming at times. I’d find myself snacking on whatever was quick and convenient (and often unhealthy and over-processed) in the afternoons. Over the last month, I’ve made food prep a priority again and made sure to stock our pantry with lots of nutritious and high-quality options so that I could make a healthy, well-balanced diet a priority. I recently started using Biochem protein powders and love them, especially for quick and nutrient-dense snacks! I’m sharing a super easy and delicious recipe for coffee inspired energy bites made from my fave Biochem protein powder that you’ll definitely want to give a try. They are perfect for an afternoon energy boost!

Biochem has a large assortment of protein powders that fit your diet needs: whey protein, keto-friendly (85% of Biochem’s protein powders are keto-friendly), vegan, vegetarian and even a protein powder with collagen! Whether I’m making a smoothie for a busy morning, sipping on a protein shake post-workout or snacking on energy balls, Biochem Protein Powders have been a great addition to our pantry.

One of the things that really impressed me about Biochem whey protein powders (aside from their great taste) is that they include all nine essential amino acids which are considered the benchmark for proteins, and is especially high in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are critical for maintenance of immune function. Biochem uses a cold process, chemical-free micro-filtration/ultra-filtration method which retains as many immunoglobulins and lactoferrin as possible – all of which are beneficial for immune support too. I’ve been using an assortment of their powders for post-workout replenishment, but my favorite way to use Biochem is in these Almond Coffee Protein Balls.

These coffee inspired energy bites are oh-so-delicious and so simple to make! They’re made with all natural ingredients (only 4 ingredients) and free of refined sugars. I’ve included recipe modifications for both keto and non-keto too! They’re super simple to make – only 10 minutes to prep a few days worth!

These energy balls are the perfect grab and go snack! I love grabbing a handful to keep me energized through the rest of the afternoon. They’re packed with tons of healthy fats, fiber and protein to keep you full and provide sustained energy. I love using Biochem Whey Isolate Protein W+ in coffee flavor for these balls. This keto-friendly protein powder is easily digestible and as an added bonus has Coffeeberry® Coffee Fruit Extract for 130mg of naturally occurring caffeine per serving (same as a cup of coffee).

Almond Coffee Protein Balls

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 18 1 inch balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond butter
  • 2/3 cup Biochem Whey Isolate Protein in Coffee
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp honey (for keto, substitute with 1/3 cup powdered erythritol)

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together in bowl until well mixed. If mixture is too dry (depends heavily on how oily your nut butter is), add a tablespoon of almond butter to the mixture at a time.
  • Mixture should be a dense dough-like consistency. Form one inch balls using your hands.
  • Store refrigerated for 1 week. Can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Notes

Note: If mixture is too thin, add more protein powder. If too dry, add more almond butter.

A few of my other favorite ways to use Biochem protein powders are:

  • Collagen+: In my morning iced coffee – simple and effective way to add Type I and Type III collagen, which may help support hair, skin, nails, eyes, muscles and bones.
  • Plant Protein P+: This super cool formula is not only loaded with 20 grams of vegan protein, but also includes botanicals such as ashwagandha extract, moringa leaf powder and passionflower extract. These are great additions to support positive mood and diminish occasional stress. Perfect addition to my morning coffee to start my day off on the right foot!
