Did you know that one-in-three U.S. families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep their baby or toddler clean, dry and healthy? While I knew that there were many that struggle with diaper need, I never realized just how prevalent this issue was! Raising children is a hard enough struggle as is, having enough diapers shouldn’t be another issue that any family should have to worry about.

Thankfully, there are some fabulous programs and easy ways that we can help. Huggies has an amazing program called No Baby Unhugged, which helps to combat diaper need for families in need. Since 2011, they have donated more than 200 million diapers and baby wipes to help the one-in-three U.S. families (36 percent) that struggle to provide enough diapers for their baby or toddler. Huggies is one of the founding sponsors and works alongside the National Diaper Bank to help families that are struggling with diaper need.

Recently there was a large event in the metro-Detroit area to help area families. This is the fifth year that Huggies and Meijer partnered together to help local Detroit babies and families in need. At the event, held on January 25th at the Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank, 400,000 diapers were donated to the National Diaper Bank Network and 100,000 of those diapers were donated to the Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank thanks to the partnership between Huggies and Meijer. In the past 5 years, these organizations have donated one MILLION diapers to help families across the U.S. in diaper need.

This donation was made possible due to Meijer shoppers’ in-store purchases of Huggies diapers between October 29 and December 23. For each pack of diapers purchased, Huggies donated a days worth of diapers through its No Baby Unhugged program and Meijer donated $1 to the National Diaper Bank Network. In addition to a total of 400,000 diapers that were donated to the National Diaper Bank Network, $10,000 was also donated to the organization which will help families across the nation in diaper need.

This event has totally inspired me to be more proactive and to help local families combat diaper need.
