While my husband and I love a date night out on the town, sometimes we have a hard time finding a sitter for evenings and I hate feeling exhausted the next day (because you know kids always wake up extra early when you’ve been up late). Lately we’ve been switching it up with day dates and we love taking it as an opportunity to mix up the typical date night with different activities. One of our go to day dates lately has been getting in a little sweat session and grabbing a healthier, lighter meal afterwards.

After a sweat session I’m always craving something to help me refuel and refresh without being too heavy or unhealthy. One of our fav spots to go for a quick, healthy meal is Tropical Smoothie Cafe! Their smoothies always hit the spot and I love how there are so many different ones to try. Whether you’re craving something tropical or want something a little more detoxing (like the Detox Island Green), Tropical Smoothie Cafe has you covered! I went with the new Watermelon Mojito and it was so refreshing and hydrating after sweating my butt off!

One little secret that most don’t realize about Tropical Smoothie Cafe, is that they also have sandwiches and wraps! The newest pressed sandwiches, the Cuban and Chicken Caprese, are amazing! My husband and I popped into Tropical Smoothie Cafe after our last workout date and picked up a few smoothies and sandwiches for on-the-go.

The Cuban was my fav and loaded with pulled pork, ham, mayo, yellow mustard, pickles & swiss and pressed to perfection. The Chicken Caprese screams summertime with grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, parmesan, tomato, pesto and a balsamic glaze (my hubs choice).  We love that they are loaded with lots of flavorful fresh, wholesome ingredients! Tropical Smoothie is the perfect destination when you need a satisfying, fresh, and high quality meal quick.

When it comes to our active day dates, we try to switch it up every time so that we aren’t always stuck doing the same activity, plus it’s always great to experience and try something new. This weeks date was playground centric, with a mix of workout moves using the playground and a run around the river.

A few of our favorite couple sweat sesh activities are:

  • running
  • rock climbing
  • playground circuit workout
  • yoga (partner or acroyoga is awesome!)
  • hiking
  • stand-up paddle boarding
  • golfing
  • dancing
  • biking
  • canoe or kayak
  • ice skating
  • basketball (one on one)
  • ice climbing
  • snow-shoeing
  • skiing/snowboarding
  • tennis

It’s a great way to spend some quality time with each other, get out of our comfort zones, and get in a little sweat. Don’t forget to make a pit-stop at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and grab one of their newest sandwiches!

Do you have a Tropical Smoothie Cafe near you? What’s your fav smoothie? Have you tried the new pressed sandwiches yet?
