Healthier French Onion Dip + Chip Alternative

Who else felt like they needed a bit of detoxing and to get their eating habits in shape after the holidays? I feel you! I love enjoying all the sweet treats and decadent dips that are always around during the holidays, after awhile I start to just feel “blah” when I’ve over indulged. Now that we are back to our daily routine, it’s been so much easier to get back into eating healthier.

When it comes to healthy eating, one of the things that I struggle with the most is snacking, especially in the evenings. I can get some wicked cravings for salty and crunchy snacks so finding healthier alternatives that satisfy is a must. One of my all-time favorites is potato chips and french onion dip. They’re like my kryptonite and just having them in the house makes me want to eat it all in one sitting.

Lately, I’ve been digging on this healthier option of a greek yogurt based french onion dip and Veggie Straws. Using non-fat greek yogurt as the base of the french onion dip cuts out all the fat from the dip (unless you add additional mayo, which is optional) and has some protein too to actually satiate your hunger. The best part, it’s ready in just a few minutes and can be prepared ahead of time (lasts up to a week in the fridge)! This would be a great duo to bring your next Game Day get together too so you can snack and cheer your favorite team on guilt-free!

Substituting Veggies Straws in lieu of potato chips is an easy way to cut back on fat. In fact, Veggie Straws have 30% less fat than the leading brand of potato chips.* A quick look at the ingredients shows that they have no preservatives or artificial colors either which is always something that I prefer. They’re also free of GMOs while having 0mg cholesterol and 0g trans fat per serving, and Certified Kosher and gluten-free.

Pairing a serving of Veggie Straws with a small bowl of veggies and this delicious dip is a great way to satisfy that salty craving without guilt. Veggie Straws have the crunchiness you crave, while the cut veggies are a great way to add some additional fiber to help keep you full for longer.
