I was provided with complimentary admission to Cedar Point in exchange for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One of the things that I love the most about the holidays is creating new family traditions. It’s been so fun to create family traditions that we can look forward to year after year, especially as our kids get older.

I absolutely LOVE Halloween and as a family we love Halloween themed events to explore and enjoy! This year we visited Cedar Point and attended the HalloWeekends and had the best time ever. As season pass holders, we visit Cedar Point pretty regularly during the spring and summer months, but hadn’t had a chance to check out their annual spooky Halloween event until this year. Our maiden visit to HalloWeekends is definitely going to become an annual Halloween tradition for our family.

HalloWeekends is the ultimate midwest Halloween event with so many things to do and enjoy for all ages (and scare levels). During the day they have numerous family-friendly events for their Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, such as corn mazes and obstacle courses, crafts, games, trick or treating for littles ones and the Tricks and Treats Tasting Tour.

As always, Cedar Point has so many amazing rides and rollercoasters to fulfill adventure & thrill seekers! The park is decorated throughout with spooky fun like skeletons and monsters and so many pumpkins. There are countless picture taking opportunities to take advantage of too!

At nighttime, Cedar Point transforms into a spooky and ominous nighttime atmosphere in areas of the park, with lots of haunted attractions to experience. We had so much fun walking through the back of the park once dusk sets where there were countless costumed performers that wander throughout to provide fun scares and screams. While we weren’t able to check out the haunted houses and attractions fully because we were there with our kiddos (ages 5 and 7) we still found so much to do during HalloWeekends. I definitely plan to make sure that we take an adults-only visit next year so we can check out everything as there is so much to do. Despite our children’s young ages, they had fun during our walk through the scare zones (if you aren’t a fan of scares, I share a tip below to avoid them).

Here are a few tips to make your HalloWeekend visit the best ever:

Go on less busy days:

HalloWeekends can get pretty busy! If you can make it work, visit on less busy days like Thursday evening, Fridays or Sundays when there is less of a crowd.

Get VIP or Fast Passes:

If you can’t swing a less busy day, consider getting VIP Experience or Fast Lane Passes. With the VIP Experience on HalloWeekends you get great benefits such as food, drink, water, hot or alcoholic beverages in the VIP Lounge. The VIP Lounge is great for taking a break with comfy furniture, fires, games, TVs and more. You also receive Fright Lane or Fast Lane Plus vouchers with VIP.

Fast Lane wristbands allow you to bypass the line on 18 rides and attractions which can save you so much time and allow you to make the most of your visit.

Tricks And Treats Fall Fest:

The Tricks And Treats Fall Fest food tasting is a great way to enjoy some seasonal favorites and flavors throughout the park. From sweet to savory, there are so many delicious options to choose from. You can also purchase tasting cards that allow you to try delectable treats from different stations while saving a bit of $$.

Wear Layers:

The weather can change quickly so make sure to dress in layers. The daytime can be warm and sunny, but once the sun goes down the temperatures can quickly drop. Make sure to dress appropriately otherwise you’ll be picking up some cute sweatshirts from the gift shops.

Purchase Necklace for Less Scares:

If you have littles that don’t love being scared, you can purchase necklaces in the gift shops that light up to let Cedar Point employers know to not scare them. We didn’t purchase them for our kiddos as they were open to being scared but it’s a nice option to have if your kiddos are more apprehensive.

Check Out The Shows:

Make sure to allow time during your stay to check out some of the fun shows that they have throughout the park! With plenty of magical and mischievous shows through the park, you don’t want to miss them. We checked out the Witch Sisters’ Spellcasting Ceremony and had so much fun as they have a very interactive and family-friendly show.

Stay At or Near The Park:

I highly recommend staying at the park so you can make the most of your time! It’s so convenient staying at the park (at Breaker’s) or nearby at Cedar Point Express. We didn’t leave the park until after 10pm so it was nice to quickly be at our hotel. Plus, we were able to get up and explore the park the next morning as well!

Lots of Picture Taking Opportunities:

Cedar Point does an amazing job at decorating the park! Make sure to grab lots of autumn and Halloween inspired family photos during your visit.

Games:

The Ghoulish Game Zone was a huge hit with our kids! There is a huge variety of games and every single player is a winner. Our kids walked away with an armful of stuffed prizes and were so happy!

If you love Halloween, I highly recommend visiting Cedar Point HalloWeekends with your family! There was so much to do and the kids have talked about it non-stop since our visit. With family-friendly activities, scares for all different levels and countless thrill rides, it’s a weekend you won’t forget.
