This Santa bread has quickly become a family favorite and is so fun to bring to holiday events. You can make your own dough or use french bread dough when pressed for time. Super cute, kids and adults both love it and surprisingly easy to make!
Remove dough from cans and add a small amount (1/4 of dough) from one dough and add to the other. You will want two portions of bread (one will be slightly larger than the other).
Shape the larger dough into a tall and skinny triangle with rounded corners (for Santa’s face and hat). Transfer to greased pan.
Divide the smaller ball of dough into half. Shape and flatter one piece into a half circle (for Santa’s beard). Use pizza cutter or knife to cut into strips within 1 inch of the top of dough.
Carefully add to bottom of Santa’s face. Twist strips to form Santa’s beard.
Use remaining dough to form Santa’s nose, brim (rectangular shape) & pom for his hat, and mustache (cut into strips similar to his beard). Fold over hat and add pom. Cut slits for eyes and add raisins.
Add one egg yolk to two separate bowls. Add 3-5 drops of McCormick® Red Food Color to one bowl and beat well. Paint Santa’s hat and nose red. Add red on his cheeks. Brush clear plain egg yolk over the rest of the dough.
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 12 minutes (you may want to tent foil so it doesn’t rest on the dough). Remove foil and bake for another 10-13 minutes until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.
