Botox is a neurotoxins (onabotulinumtoxinA) that paralyzes the underlying facial muscles that cause muscles to contract, which lessens the activity of those muscles. Botox prevents wrinkles and lines from forming or developing further
At your consultation you will talk with their staff about your skin concerns and areas in which you may be interested in using Botox.
You'll be asked to make several different expressions (smile, surprise, scowl) in order to showcase the wrinkles and fine lines that are being addressed.
They'll mark spots on the areas to inject based on what muscles they are targeting and your desired results. I usually do crows feet, forehead and glabellar areas.
The Botox injections are pretty painless. You may feel a slight pressure or pinching sensation, but it’s nothing that is super uncomfortable (and this is coming from someone who isn’t a big fans of needles)
It can take up to two weeks for you to see the full results. Most see changes within a few days later. On average, after 10 to 14 days you will see the full results.
The effects of Botox typically last around three to four months depending on how your body metabolizes Botox.
BEFORE AND AFTER
Currently Botox costs $13 per unit at the med spa that I visit.. The number of units that you will need will depend on the areas that you are having treated. Finding a highly trained injector is incredibly important!
