I don’t know about you, but doctor appointments are a pain with kids in tow. Trying to keep them entertained, happy and out of everything while waiting to be seen is exhausting, I always forget to ask the doctor questions and feel like I only hear about 50% of what they say because I’m so distracted.

When I found out about YoDerm, I jumped at the chance to give it a try. YoDerm is a web service that connects you with U.S. board certified dermatologists. Basically, you are able to have a dermatology appointment in the convenience of your own home. The dermatologist uses photos and information that you provide to create a personalized treatment plan entirely online. It’s quick, convenient, and affordable.

Let me quickly tell you about my experience. I quickly and easily set up my account. They asked for information about:

  • My prescription insurance and what pharmacy to have prescriptions sent to (which was simple to enter)
  • Medical history (any allergies, meds I was on, if I was pregnant or nursing, etc.)
  • What skin ailments/issues I was having
  • Upload pictures of my skin (both sides and front of face and anywhere else you have concerns)

After I entered all my information, I was told that I would hear back from my doctor as soon as he was able to review my information and configure a treatment plan. I was shocked to hear back via email in less than an hour! I logged back into my YoDerm account and I had a diagnosis and treatment plan already. My prescriptions were even already sent into my pharmacy (with refills). My treatment plan was very clear, along with a explanation of my diagnosis and it was very easy to reply to my doctor with any questions that I had, which I loved. He had even touched based on my concern, with meds and breastfeeding (although, I always verify with my pharmacists anyways). I can easily set up future consultations too (all on my schedule and from home).

The cost per consultation is $59, which is comparable to most co-pays (especially for seeing a specialist). If you’re interested trying YoDerm for yourself or a family member, you can use my referral link below and save $10 off your first consultation (and I’ll receive a $10 bonus too).

Overall, I was really surprised at how easy the service was to use and felt like it was very thorough. I really liked how easy it was to communicate with my doctor, the ease of submitting info and how efficient it was. I think that if I had a very serious skin issue (like an infection), I may still want to go in and see someone in person, but for treating acne, wrinkles and dermatitis (my skin concerns), this was a perfect solution that was so easy to use and convenient.

Disclaimer: I was offered a free consultation for this review. All opinions are my own.
