These tips for wellness are brought to you in paid partnership with Sensoril® Ashwagandha through Maverick Mindshare.

Motherhood is a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. However, it can also be incredibly challenging, leaving many feeling overwhelmed and stressed. As moms, we often put the needs of our families before our own, which can lead to burnout and increased stress levels. But here is the good news: There are effective ways to manage stress and find balance in our busy lives. In this blog post, I’m sharing seven practical strategies to help you manage stress that arises during modern day motherhood:

1. Prioritize Self-Care:

As moms, we tend to prioritize everyone else’s needs before our own. However, it’s essential to remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. Whether it’s taking a long bath, reading a book, or practicing mindfulness, find activities that bring you joy and relaxation. You truly can’t take care of those around you fully, if you aren’t taking care of yourself.

2. Ashwagandha: A Natural Stress Buster:

Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb, has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to combat stress and promote overall well-being. In particular, Sensoril® Ashwagandha is a great addition to your wellness routine to help your body adapt to stressors by regulating your body’s stress response. Sensoril is unique because it uses the leaves and roots of the ashwagandha plant, which studies suggest delivers optimal efficacy for the most beneficial results. I started using supplements with Sensoril on a daily basis to help my body adapt and manage stress more effectively. With consistent use, it’s helped me to respond to stress more easily and feel a bit more at ease. I’ve even noticed an improved sleep quality as well, especially when dealing with late night insomnia.

One of the things that I really enjoy about using Sensoril, is that it offers a natural and holistic approach to managing stress and improving my sleep. It’s a simple addition to my wellness routine that helps me to navigate modern motherhood with more resilience and a calmer mind. To learn more about Sensoril, click here!

Be sure to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, especially if you’re pregnant or nursing.

3. Establish a Support System:

Lean on your support system. Surround yourself with friends and family who understand and appreciate the challenges of parenthood. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with others can provide emotional relief and a fresh perspective on your stressors. Whether you find a community to connect with online or through activities you enjoy (some of my closest friends are yoga pals), having a community to lean on and vent with can be great for alleviating stress.

4. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation:

Mindfulness and meditation techniques can help you stay grounded and reduce stress. Find a quiet space to sit and focus on your breath for a few minutes each day. If you’re unsure where to begin, there are so many great apps (many free) that can help guide you through a meditation or mindfulness practice.

Breathwork is another great option for managing stress. Breathwork helps to oxygenate cells, boost the immune system, release stress hormones and calm the mind. For breathwork, 4-7-8 exercise is a wonderful place to begin. This technique involves breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds.

Another great technique to explore is deep abdominal breathing. This technique uses a long, deep breath. As you breathe, you can visualize your breath filling up your body much like a wave (your belly and chest should both expand when you inhale). When you exhale, your chest relaxes, and your navel pulls back in toward your spine. This type of deep breathing signals your body to relax (also a great option to do before bedtime to decompress and unwind).

5. Get Moving:

Exercise is a powerful stress reliever. Whether it’s going for a walk, attending a yoga class, or simply dancing around the living room with your kids, physical activity releases those feel-good endorphins that boost your mood and reduce stress. Aim for 30 minutes a day of movement for the ultimate benefits.

6. Organize Your Time:

Managing a household, balancing responsibilities and taking care of kids can be chaos at times! A well-organized schedule can make a world of difference. Create a daily or weekly routine that includes time for work, chores, family, and, most importantly, yourself (so put in that self-care/workout!). This structure can help reduce the feeling of being pulled in multiple directions. For my family, we have a shared online calendar that we can reference easily at any time to make things a bit easier. Where possible, delegate tasks and chores to help divide and conquer (& it teaches kids responsibility and independence).

7. Seek Professional Help:

If stress becomes overwhelming or persistent, don’t hesitate to seek professional help. Therapy or counseling can provide valuable tools and strategies to manage stress and improve your mental health.

Being a mom is an incredible journey filled with joy and love, but it can also be incredibly stressful. Remember that it’s okay to prioritize your well-being. By incorporating these stress management strategies into your daily routine, you’ll be better equipped to navigate the challenges of motherhood and find balance in your life. You’ve got this!
